What happens when you combine one of the most popular desserts of all time with a bunch of Reddit bakers? Something very interesting... that's what.
This fudgey, gooey, viral brownie recipe popped up on r/baking a few months ago and as a self-proclaimed brownie lover I just HAD to give it a try.
Now, let's dive into more about this viral brownie recipe.
What Makes These Brownies So Special?
- This easy brownie recipe has gotten over 8 THOUSAND likes on Reddit which may not seem like a lot but in the world of r/baking 8,000 means ALOT.
- That classic flakey shine crust we've grown to know and love on the perfect brownie.
- The gooey, moist, rich, fudgey texture of the brownie which can be attributed to high-fat cocoa, two types of sugar, and high-fat butter (they never claimed these were healthy).
- Very easy to make and does not require any special ingredients. I believe that the most "fancy" ingredient in this recipe that the average home baker wouldn't have would be espresso powder however you can always substitute this with regular coffee in a pinch!
My Thoughts On The Viral Reddit Brownies
Considering this was my second time making these brownies *see picture below for first batch*, I was (again) pleasantly surprised by just how INTENSE the chocolate flavor is in these brownies.
Using a semi-sweet chocolate along with high-quality cocoa powder yielded an ultra-rich consistency and taste that might even be too intense for your average brownie consumer.
The texture was indeed gooey and these brownies featured a soft pliable texture even after cooling for several hours.
The crackly top was not as prominent as it was on my previous batch, however this could be due to the amount of time that I decided to beat my egg mixture, therefore I won't hold it against anyone but myself.
One negative that I did not care for is that these brownies in addition to be very rich and chocolatey are also VERY sweet.
Considering this blog's name you can probably guess that I did not enjoy that aspect, and will probably reduce the sugar by one-fourth to one third next time I try this recipe.
None-the-less, the texture of this brownie is really where they shine! They are hands-down the most gooey brownies I have ever baked (I almost thought they were underbaked when I first cut into them).
If you love a sweet, chocolatey, fudge brownie then this viral reddit brownie just may be your new go-to recipe!
Give it a try and let me know what you think!
